Lazy Sunday in Santiago today. The weather was great and the mountains were visible all day; Wes Montgomery was on repeat on my iPod.
Took a day trip today with some friends to the small town of “La Isla Negra,” where famed Chilean poet Pablo Neruda used to live in his eccentric coastal home. I hadn’t listened to this song in a while, and it came up on my iPod on the bus ride to the coast; it was subsequently stuck in my head for the rest of the day. It was a nice song to hum while sitting on the beach.
Saw this performer at Lollapalooza Chile last weekend, it was a fantastic show. This song has a more upbeat/dance feel, however some of his other stuff goes from Bowie-esque to 1977 Beegees (see his song “Tormenta”). The translation (for my gringo friends) is “It’s Always Friday in my Heart.” I know. Hilarious.
